This questionnaire is designed to help me clearly understand your goal in creating a new website. This form will allow me to create a concise set of design objections and actionable steps. The answers given will ensure I design a website that targets the correct market and accomplishes its objectives, giving you and your business the greatest opportunity to succeed. Take your time and give as much information as you can. This form will be referred back to throughout the website creation process!

1. About Your Business

What is the name of your company?

What’s your website address?

What does your business do? Try and sum it up in one setence.

What product(s) or service(s) does your business provide?

How many years has your company been in business?

Who are your competitors?

The short and long term goals of the business – try and keep this to one or two sentences.

Do you have an established Brand Guide? Is there a tone you would like to capture with your new site?

2. Aims of the Project

Why do you want a website? Sum up in one sentence what you’re hoping the website can do for you.

What needs to be achieved for you to consider the project to be a success?

3. Your Audience

What does your existing customer base look like? Try to sum up in a couple of sentences who you work with at the moment.

Describe your ideal customer – this could obviously be more than one type, but try to keep it to just two or three. It’s helpful to know so it can steer some of the decision making throughout the web design process.

When a customer lands on your website, what do you want your customer to do? What’s the end game? List out the thing(s) you want the customer to do.

4. Your Current Website (Omit if you don’t have one)

If you have access to your current site’s analytics tell me about them. How much traffic do you receive per month? What devices are people using? How many sales or inquiries does the current site generate per week/month? How do you feel about all this info?

What’s wrong with the current site? What don’t you like about it, what’s annoying, what could be better?

What’s good about the current site? What do you like? What works well?

How well does the existing website reflect your brand?

5. Finally, Your New Website

What are the key features you want/need to include? Are there any third party tools or specific integrations you would like to utilize

I utilize website builders to maximize efficiency. Typically I build websites on Squarespace as it allows a ton of customization and ease of use from a content maintenance stand point (meaning you will have access to updating it yourself). I can, however, build on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, etc. Sometimes your specific needs will determine what platform the website is built on. Do you have a requirement or preference as to which platform the website is built on?
